AVA Reading Mentorship Programme

Since the start of September, our Year 11 and Post-16 students have been actively supporting Year 7 and 8 students in building their reading skills through a dedicated reading mentorship program. This initiative allows younger students to practice reading one-on-one, gaining confidence, fluency, and a greater love for reading with the support of older peers. 

Beyond improving literacy skills, the program fosters a sense of community and responsibility, with Year 11 and post-16 students setting a positive example by sharing their time and experience. It’s inspiring to see these students step up as role models, championing both reading and our school’s core values of respect, aspiration, and resilience. This collaboration not only enhances reading abilities but also strengthens connections across year groups, creating a supportive environment for all.
