CURRICULUM
SUBJECTS 2025-2027
The AVA Sixth Form offers a wide range of subjects, providing options that give the students opportunities to study subjects of their choice and interest. Our curriculum is structured around a core of respected academic A-Levels and Applied General qualifications (Single award and Triple award BTEC qualifications). Student study programmes are designed to enable maximum progress, with three different pathways available:
PATHWAYS
- A level Pathway - 3 A level subjects.
- Blended Pathway - 2 BTEC subjects and 1 A level or 1 BTEC subject and 2 A Levels.
- Vocational Pathway - A combination of 3 BTEC subjects or an extended diploma (BTEC Triple Award).
Each pathway has its minimum entry requirements:
- A Level Pathway - 85 points and above.
- Blended Pathway - 75 points and above
- Vocational Pathway - 60 points and above.
Subject Options
Based on the knowledge of combinations required for the most popular university courses and careers, as well as the most popular options choices from previous years, we have created this subject offer. Every effort will be made to give as many students as possible their first three subject choices within these options. One-to-one discussions will be held to try and meet each student’s needs. However, students are also asked to make one reserve choice, in case of timetabling clashes or unforeseen circumstances.
Students should carefully consider the subject entry requirements when making their initial choices. The combination of subjects chosen can be very important when progressing to college, university, or employment.
The Sixth Form application can be completed via our application portal HERE.
The deadline for submission of applications is 30th April, but applications submitted after this date will still be considered if reasonable.
