ADMISSIONS CONSULTATION

Statutory Consultation on proposed changes to Admission Arrangements

In accordance with the School Admissions Code 2021, we are required to review our admissions policy annually and to consult on our admission arrangements at prescribed times. Where the admission arrangements have not changed from the previous year, there is no requirement to consult, subject to the requirement that admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period. The Code mandates consultation whenever changes to the admission arrangements are proposed.

The Governing Body of The Aylesbury Vale Academy, as the admission authority, is now consulting on proposed changes to the Admissions Policy, which will come into effect for the 2026-2027 academic year, as outlined below:

Proposed changes

Oversubscription criteria #3 is changed to read: 

Normal admission rounds: Children with a normal home address (See Note 4) in the defined catchment area and with a sibling (See Note 5) on the roll of the school in Reception, Years 1-5 and Years 7-10 at the time of application and who are expected to still be in attendance on the date of the proposed admission.

In-year/casual admissions (outside of the normal admission rounds): Children with a normal home address in the defined catchment area and with a sibling on the school roll in Reception and Years 1-13 at the time of application and who are expected to still be in attendance on the date of the proposed admission.

In-year/casual admissions (outside of the normal admission rounds)Children with a normal home address outside the defined catchment area and with a sibling on the school roll in Reception and Years 1-13 at the time of application and who are expected to still be in attendance on the date of the proposed admission.

Consultation period: Thursday 10 October 2024 to Thursday 21 November 2024
